Alaska Helicopter Proposal with Glacier Views

Recently engaged couple drinks champagne in front of a helicopter while overlooking a glacier in Alaska. Their proposal was captured by Aronoff Photography minutes before this picture.

All proposals are unforgettable. Some proposals go above and beyond not just because of the romantic moment itself, but also because of the adventurous experience. This Alaska helicopter proposal was one of those days where everything came together with proper planning and a fantastic fun-loving couple. A private helicopter flight, sweeping mountain views, and a quiet landing overlooking Knik Glacier created a setting that felt both epic and deeply intimate.

If you’ve ever imagined proposing somewhere completely out of the ordinary, this is a glimpse of a helicopter proposal I photographed in Alaska.

A Helicopter Flight Into the Mountains

Our adventure began with a helicopter flight into the mountains near Girdwood, about an hour southeast of Anchorage. As we took to the air, the landscape opened up below us. From every seat in the helicopter, we could see rugged peaks and the stunning Knik Glacier encompassing the view in every direction. One of the most special things about helicopter access in Alaska is how quickly you can reach places that feel completely untouched and remote.

After landing on a scenic cliff overlook surrounded by glacial views, the moment Isaiah had been planning for quietly and intentionally unfolded.

A Private Proposal With Glacier Views

With the mountains and glacier behind them, Isaiah proposed to Teyanni in a quiet, personal moment that was completely removed from the rest of the world. There were no crowds and no distractions, just the two of them taking it all in (and me, photographing them out of sight and out of mind!).

This is what makes a helicopter proposal in Alaska so unique… you’re able to combine an incredible experience with a moment that still feels calm, intentional, and private.

She said YES!

After the proposal, Teyanni and Isaiah popped champagne and enjoyed a quiet picnic, giving them personal time to take in the special moment while admiring the stunning scenery.

Exploring Girdwood After the Proposal

Once we returned from the helicopter flight, we spent some time in Girdwood and went for a short hike to take additional couples photos. The contrast between the glacial alpine scenery and the quieter forested trails made for a beautiful change of pace and gave the gallery more variety.

This additional time together after the proposal is often my favorite part of the day. The anticipation of the proposal is gone, the excitement of being engaged has settled in, and couples can simply enjoy being together.

Planning a Helicopter Proposal in Alaska

Helicopter proposals are a great option for couples who want an experience that is adventurous without being overwhelming. In particular, they are ideal for couples who value:

  • Access to dramatic landscapes without strenuous hiking
  • A private, intimate experience away from the crowded touristy spots
  • Flexibility with timing and multiple locations
  • An adventure that is unique and still approachable

If you’re considering taking things a step further, many couples choose to turn their proposal into a full Alaska helicopter elopement, or plan an intimate ceremony on a glacier later on. Alaska offers endless possibilities once you start exploring beyond the norms. Let’s personalize your perfect proposal.
